Community Facilities

COMMUNITY HALL
The Laurie Georgeson Community Hall provides an airconditioned space for residents to meet for social functions. The hall has kitchen and toilet facilities as well as a generous indoor and covered outdoor area. The hall is used by residents for indoor bowls, morning teas, craft activities, a hairdresser visits on a regular basis, and a small book and DVD library is available for borrowings. The hall is also used for Talbot Estate all weather functions such as Christmas celebrations, garden competition presentations, other community events as well as being available for significant events for individual residents and their families.

TOM WYATT PARKLAND
A recent initiative of the Board has been the development of a parkland area along Lion Creek named in honour of long serving former President, Tom Wyatt. Development of the parkland takes advantage of the natural landscape along the banks of the creek and features a gazebo with a barbecue and picnic tables connected with concrete paths for residents and visitors to enjoy. The parkland also incorporates a fruit orchard and community garden established with the help of residents and local community volunteer groups.
Location
The estate is located only a 5-minute drive from the Rockhampton CBD. Has a convenient bus stop located at the entrance of the estate, it’s close to all amenities including the Rockhampton Base Hospital and the Wandal Shopping precinct which includes a post office, chemist and doctor’s surgery.
Security
The estate is easily accessed by the public via the three street entrances. Security cameras have been installed in public access areas to assist in managing unwanted intrusion into the estate.
Tenancy Agreements
As required by the Residential Tenancies Act in Queensland, tenants are required to enter into a Tenancy Agreement with Talbot Estate Inc. for the rental period. Initial tenancy agreements are usually for a 6 month period, with any subsequent agreements for a 12 month period. Rent reviews do occur to ensure that Talbot Estate Inc can operate sustainably well into the future. Talbot Estate Inc is not an aged care organisation; it provides affordable rental housing for aged pensioners capable of independent living. Therefore, should your situation change where additional levels of service or care are required, you are encouraged to seek alternate accommodation through aged care facilities that are set up to provide more appropriate care for your needs.
